That leakage allows your AC to escape into your attic when your air is running, lowering efficiency and increasing your energy use. When your AC is off, outside air is drawn from your dirty attic into the ducts through the gaps and cracks in your duct work. This contributes to dust in your home and lower indoor air quality.
